Trailer - Casa de mi Padre

Will Ferrell is an enigma for me, at times I love his schtick and others I can't stand it. Usually it is evident from the onset if I am going to be interested in a Ferrell project and his latest, a Spanish language effort, looks to be a scream! Late last year our first teaser for "Casa de mi Padre" was released and I instantly catapulted this project as a potential best for Ferrell. That initial teaser made me think Armando Alvarez could be a rival to Ron Burgundy. Thankfully the full length trailer keeps my hopes up. Check it out for yourself below.

This flick looks ripe will laughs and you can guarantee I will be hitting theaters to see it March 16th, when it releases. The big question is will the rest of general audiences? "Casa de mi Padre" will probably only see a limited release to start but will it gain enough traction to see a wider release being in a foreign language? Part of me believes that Will Ferrell is funny enough to pull in audiences to see him even if he is speaking Spanish, but the other half of me thinks that same demographic will turn their nose to reading subtitles for laughs. Native Spanish speakers who like Will Ferrell are in for a treat, but lets hope this comedy is good enough to break some of the subtitle barriers general audiences have built around them.
